In the contemporary professional cleaning sector, innovation and sustainability have emerged as indispensable strategic imperatives. In this interview, Loris Fazzari, Commercial Manager for Italy at Burnus Professional, outlines the company's advanced solutions tailored for the laundering of high-performance workwear, emphasizing effectiveness, safety, and the optimization of operational processes.
To ensure optimal stain removal, we rely on the liquid compact detergent GREEN ULTRA (EU Ecolabel certified). In addition, TEN-COMBI HP and PENTASOL can be used to improve grease and oil removal. The stain-carrying capacity of the wash solution can be enhanced with LIQUISAN D, a silicatebased alkaline component. The advantage lies in the low pH range of the wash solution, which positively affects color retention and extends the lifespan of reflective strips. Especially for personal protective equipment (PPE), we thus provide laundry with a system that ensures outstanding wash quality while keeping high-quality textiles in circulation for as long as possible, particularly in the leasing business.
Our shared goal with our laundry partners is to maintain both the luminance factor of the textile fabrics and a maximum retroreflectivity value for reflective strips throughout the entire service life of the protective clothing. To ensure this, we have conducted validation tests with various partners. In all cases, the flameretardant properties of the fabrics were preserved. We have even succeeded in maintaining the minimum values for luminance factor and retroreflectivity using disinfecting wash cycles for up to 50 wash and dry cycles.

With the ZEISS TURBO or GREEN BOOST and OXYPLEX Plus disinfection washing process, we offer a two-component system that is approved for use at 40°C and 60°C. The difference lies in the application concentrations, which ensure compliance with both efficacy ranges A and B of the RKI (Robert Koch Institute). The advantage of this flexible system is that detergents and additives can be dosed individually according to the specific requirements of the degree of soiling and fabric properties.

We recommend periodically verifying that the end products meet the required performance standards. This can be done through water-repellency tests, spray tests, or by explicitly applying substances. Furthermore, we recommend regularly checking the so-called reflectivity. Damage to the textile can be determined through so-called secondary wash tests. In doing so, defined limit values must be adhered to.

Our dosing technology records each batch with a timestamp, including wash cycle start/end, dosing quantities, and malfunctions. Statistical modules enable detailed analysis. The batch log stores data on laundry volumes, machine use, dosing, and faults. Detergent consumption and costs are always transparent. Our IoT-enabled dosing technology lets you access data anytime, anywhere. A customizable dashboard adapts to your needs.
We are able to calculate the carbon footprint of our components at any time. Furthermore, we are focusing on increasing the proportion of recycled materials in our packaging, with the help of VARIBOX. As evidence of our exceptional commitment to eco-sustainability, Burnus Professional GmbH & Co. KG has obtained certification, under license agreement DE/039/006, authorizing the use and display of the EU Ecolabel.

Based on customer data, Burnus Professional analyzes real-time energy and water consumption and develops solutions to optimize processes. Use of heat exchangers for wastewater and exhaust air from the drying section, and utilization of condensate as low-pressure steam to heat the washing equipment. In the medium term, we will expand our expertise in water recycling to provide our customers with comprehensive consulting services in the future.
Our goal is to provide our customers with solutions that enable them to detect and initiate orders early on, thereby optimizing both their own inventory levels and their customers’ storage capacities. Dosing processes should be recorded even more precisely, calibrations simplified, and thus repetitive tasks reduced. •
