/ Magazine / MACPI, Made in Italy excellence at Texcare
Here we are! We have arrived at the 2024 edition of Texcare International. Italian companies have always played a key and leading role at this trade fair, where the Made in Italy really makes a difference. Within the framework of Italian craftsmanship, which is synonymous to quality, aesthetic taste, and machine reliability, we cannot overlook a historic brand of excellence: MACPI.

The company produces ironing presses, laundry equipment, stitch free technologies for clothing and accessories, and machines for fashion logistic. MACPI’s production history is studded with commercial relationships with some of the most renowned players in the clothing industry and the world’s leading fashion houses. All the machines are fully manufactured in the production facilities located in Palazzolo sull’Oglio (BS) and Vigevano (PV), where Fimas is headquartered.
MACPI, an ever-evolving story since 1961, emphasizes the slogan displayed on the company’s portal. But is it possible to successfully combine the machinery for the small laundries with those intended for industrial laundries? MACPI has succeeded it by using its experience, expertise, and valuable customer feedback. Which is your offer for the small laundries? Automated form finishers, ironing tables, boilers, irons, and vacuum systems, a wide range to be seen and tested. For industrial laundries, we are producing automatic unit for the pressing of medical uniforms, automatic unit for shirts and pants with automatic loading or unloading and of course, the MACPI 535 tunnel.

We interview Eleonora Cartabbia, the Marketing Manager of the company.
“The reasoning, the common thread, and the philosophy standing behind the design and manufacturing of our machines is automation, with respecting the environment and energy savings. We take as example, the Tunnel Finisher 535. In addition to being a technologically advanced machine with high productivity, it recovers excess steam and, through a recirculation system, ensures reduced consumption. The steam regulation is adjustable via touchscreen. Additionally, the inflatable rolls in the tunnel prevent heat loss, while the new motors with radial system allow for 30% less energy consumption.
“Tunnel finisher 535, for steam recovery and energy savings”
I would like to add that we must focus more on the automation of the machines, as the workforce is not only a scarce resource but also needs adequate support from innovative and user-friendly machines. I would like to mention two eloquent examples: our 4-station automatic shirt finishing unit 291, and the model 320 trousers ironing unit. The shirt finisher ensures a production of 1.200 ironed pieces per day with just one operator, delivering high-quality finishing while significantly reducing time and costs.
This machine allows significant energy savings. To make a comparison, the power consumption of four dummies is 16 kW with 130 kg/h of steam, while with the 291, costs are reduced as power consumption drops to 15 kW and steam consumption to 100 kg/h. Moving on to the trousers ironing unit model 320, it can process between 2.500 and 3.000 items per day with just one operator, thanks to its automatic unloading feature. It is a fully adjustable machine that allows precise garment sizing with the “size-setting” system. In terms of energy savings, using four trousers’ toppers would normally consume around 10 kW and 100 kg/h of steam. However, with the Macpi 320 model, costs are significantly lowered, as power consumption drops to 3.5 kW and steam consumption to 70 kg/h”.
“291 automatic shirt finishing unit, up to 1200 shirts finished per day!”
“We will showcase machines representing our business division that focuses on traditional laundry, including shirt and trousers ironing machines, ironing tables, and boilers. For example, you’ll see the Trousers topper model 321 for trousers without pleats, with various options, including size control and handling both rigid and elastic fabrics, thanks to its hip and leg adjusting system. As for the ironing of the trousers with pleats, we have the 553.88 trousers press, with steaming upper plate and a steaming and vacuuming lower plate. A key feature is the Pivot (flapper screen), equipped with an electropneumatic system with tension adjustment and fabric recovery”.

The company certifications are industry- and market-recognized credentials – especially in the laundry and textile care sector – that attest competence as an added value in terms of credibility and MACPI has been proactive on this front as well”.
You recently obtained two new certifications, would you like to give us more details about them?
“First and foremost, we are very proud to have obtained the SA 8000 certification”.

“The SA 8000 certification is an international standard that sets the requirements for a management system focused on human rights and ethical working conditions within organizations. It focuses on key issues such as child labour, forced labour, health and safety at work, freedom of association, the right to collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary practices, working hours, and decent wages”.

“Macpi has undertaken a rigorous process to obtain this certification. This involved a detailed analysis of existing company policies and practices, the identification of potential areas for improvement and the implementation of corrective actions. The active involvement of employees, management, and business partners was crucial to the success of this process. Achieving the SA 8000 certification offers numerous benefits for Macpi and our stakeholders. It demonstrates our commitment to corporate social responsibility and reinforces the trust of customers, employees, and the communities in which we operate. Additionally, it allows us to distinguish ourselves on the market, attract quality business partners, and meet the always increasing expectations of our consumers for socially responsible companies”.

“It is a recognition of company policies and practices aimed at ensuring equal opportunities and fair treatment for men and women at the workplace. This includes balanced recruiting and promotion policies, pay equity, professional development programs, and favourable conditions for work-life balance. The active involvement of all employees has been crucial for the success of this process and demonstrates our commitment to gender equality and promoting an inclusive corporate culture. Additionally, it allows us to attract and retain diverse talent, thereby enhancing our competitiveness on the market”.

Now all you have to do is to visit MACPI at Texcare International 2024 in Frankfurt, hall 8.0, booth E49, to experience the quality first-hand and admire the progress of innovation, even in professional ironing. •
