ÈCOSÌ, detergency revolution in the laundry

2023 was a successful year for ÈCOSÌ-Laundry Division, which has recorded a +103% sales increase compared to the previous year. A figure that testifies the significant growth of the company, specialized in professional cleaning and sanitising products, and underlines its leading position in the professional and industrial laundry sector.

Elba Multicomponent System: sustainability that drives ÈCOSÌ

Among the most recent achievements of the Laundry Division is the collaboration with Servizi Italia related to their facility located in Pavia di Udine. “We are proud to collaborate with Servizi Italia – states Antonio Ciccarella, the Laundry Division Manager of ÈCOSÌ – who was highly interested on our Elba Multicomponent System, one of our flagship products awarded with Ecolabel environmental certification. It represents the recognition of our value and our daily commitment to keep up with our customers’ demands”.

ÈCOSÌ is the only company in Italy that offers a complete washing system (comprising the Elba detergent, the alkaline reinforcer Alkes, the Texel whitener, and the fabric softener Opera) certified with Ecolabel, a European label for products with proven environmental sustainability. Furthermore, the Elba system also complies with the UNI EN ISO 14698-1:2004 standard, attesting the microbicidal efficiency of the washing process when using professional washing machines. This is particularly relevant for the reconditioning of textile materials used in the sanitization of hospital surfaces.

“When the Laundry sector began to demand more sustainable processes and products – comments Ciccarella – it was a natural choice to rely on us. For almost twenty-five years we have been recognised for innovative, eco-friendly and customer-friendly washing methods. Taking the path of sustainability has yielded more than positive results on the market: the Elba System is, in fact, the most widely used in tenders for textile washing.

Wos+ for cost reduction and water saving

In the recent years, the Laundry sector has experienced a period of uncertainty due to economic fluctuations and the energy crisis. This scenario has driven ÈCOSÌ to focus on solutions coping with cost reduction and the environmental challenge in a synergetic way.” Ciccarella explains how they have structured the project: “The careful management of resources has often a positive impact on the overall sustainability of the laundry. Therefore, we have embraced digitalization and invested in research to develop new products, supporting our customers in controlling consumption and optimizing operational processes”.

A concrete example is the WOS+ (Water Optimizer System) technology for recovering the wash water in the washer-extractors, which contributes to the sustainable management of the water resources and also less detergent used. By utilizing water that already contains detergent, it is possible to lower the quantity of detergent in the next washing cycle.

The head of the Laundry Division emphasizes its effectiveness: “We have demonstrated a water recovery of up to 62%, which is efficiently reused in the subsequent washes. Customers who have adopted it confirm significant savings in terms of energy, product, and therefore, economically”.

Low washing temperatures and Texipure Line: simple, fast and effective procedures

ÈCOSÌ has recently added a further step to its costs reduction strategy by introducing a new detergents line highly efficient for washing at low temperatures, starting from 20°C. They maximise energy savings without compromising the washing quality; on the contrary, they are reducing fabric wear usually caused by high operating temperatures. The washing cycle times also decrease significantly, as there is no need to wait for water heating. Continuing its mission to provide innovative solutions to the daily challenges of professional and industrial laundries, ÈCOSÌ has recently launched the Texipure Line: 4 ready-to-use pretreatment stain removers that act in just 10 minutes on more than 40 types of stains.

“Finding the right formulas on such a wide range of stains was not easy, it is the result of many laboratory tests made by our chemists. In addition, we also offer the refill system, with 5-litre cans equipped with a dosing tap and 500 ml triggers: in this way, we reduce plastic waste by 50%,” concludes Ciccarella.

Aquoxil: disinfectant based on peracetic Acid

The diversified products range also includes disinfectants, as the company is a PMC (medical-surgical devices) production workshop authorised by the Ministry of Health and a producer of peracetic Acid. “Being one of the two producers in Italy of this raw material means having more expertise in the field of PMCs – adds Ciccarella – so we can develop specific products. For example, Aquoxil is a disinfectant created specifically for hospitals and healthcare linen. Also in this case, we have been following a sustainable path: the peracetic Acid, in fact, has a lower environmental impact than sodium hypochlorite”.

The combination of washing process analysis, attention to sustainability and focus on customer needs is what distinguishes the ÈCOSÌ Laundry Division’s approach today, guiding its partners towards a more sustainable future.
